Fourteen-year-old Amira Khan has always loved to draw, but this summer her artwork is about to become a permanent fixture in the town centre. After winning a local art competition, her mural — featuring local wildlife, historic buildings, and a message of unity — will be painted on the side of the library by a professional artist, with Amira helping every step of the way. “I wanted to create something hopeful,” she said. “Something that makes people smile as they walk past.” The mural is expected to be completed by the end of August.
