Mr. Singh’s Corner Shop Wins ‘Friendliest Business’ Award

He remembers everyone’s name, hands out free lollies on Fridays, and even runs errands for elderly customers — so it’s no surprise that Mr. Singh’s Corner Shop has been voted the “Friendliest Business in Town” by local residents. The 68-year-old shopkeeper has run the store for 35 years, and says it’s the people who keep him going. “I may sell bread and milk, but really I sell community,” he joked. A plaque now hangs proudly above the door, and Mr. Singh says he’s considering adding a community noticeboard and book swap shelf next.
